As I said earlier, browser hijackers don’t come with clear instructions on how to uninstall them. They are difficult to remove because you cannot trace their installation path.

Some hijackers might get installed in the form of an extension or add-on for a browser, which can be removed in one click from the user’s browser settings.

One can go a step further to find if the hijacker has gained entry to the Software Programs list in the computer’s control panel and uninstall it. However, it is rarely this simple.

1. Keep an eye on checkboxes while installing any software. You may be tricked into installing unwanted software programs by opting in during the software installation process. They are generally checked by default, and users have a mindset of proceeding without knowing the risks. 2. Carefully read your end user license agreement (EULA) documents when installing software. Oftentimes, mentions of browser hijackware are hidden in the EULA, so when you accept the user agreements, you might be unknowingly accepting malware as well.

3. Be cautious when you install free programs. The old expression “there is no such thing as a free lunch” applies to software products too. Vendors often hide something inside the “free” program to earn money off of you.

I’ve seen this happening countless times, mostly on Laptops that my friends have. The funny thing is that sometimes the ones that install these hijackers are legitimate programs, weird.

That happened many times to me when I was getting a lot of pirated software. I didn’t had any money so I was downloading everything from torrent sites and I would often get infected with such programs. Never again, now I’ve been using legitimate software for the better part of the year and I’m yet to get infected by a single hijacker.

I’ve been downloading freeware programs (some of them legal some of them not) since forever and I never had any problems with hijackers, maybe you weren’t careful?

I would always install freeware programs without looking at the boxes at all, which would result in additional software getting installed. At one point I got infected with a hijacker, I’ve been paying attention to what these tiny boxes are saying ever since.

Finally this sounds like the answer to whats going on with my laptop. nobody would tell me . i would set up my settings and my browser (Bing) and microsoft Edge and the next day get on the computer and it was on Google so i would download edge again and again again i thought my computer is really screwed up or maybe i was loosing my mind. i would go and set everything all up and then bam next day back to google i dislike google on my computer. well i hope that this is what is causing my problems and i hope you can help me get rid of it and i hope its easy cause i dont know nothing about computers but i’m getting good at setting up my settings and browser I’ve only done it now 45 times or more for real. well thank you for your help and keep your fingers crossed that this will work for me. thank you and have a great day.
